About LayerD

As we stated before, LayerD is an effort to develop an alternative technology in relation to those technologies offered by big multinational enterprises. It is a free-access technology for documentation as well as for compilers and tools that will be available at no charge for learning, scientific or business-related purposes.

LayerD is a new software development technology that has been developed in Argentina, to be more precise; in the city of Cordoba in the province that has the same name.

LayerD has originally been a standard language project that could be translated by automated means into various high level programming languages; that was around the year 1999. Later on, who initially attempted to develop such project temporarily gave it up due to a lack of both time and funds to back up the project. In the middle of 2002 he continued with the project reinterpreting the original idea and including a new goal; multiplatform software development at Zero Cost of Execution . The project turned out to be what we now know -in general- as LayerD technology but again the lack of time and economical resources paralyzed its development in practical terms.

At present, the available resources for LayerD development are relatively limited (see Launching Plan) and are only sufficient to complete the initial specifications, building a LayerD-XPL compiler, a few LayerD compilers, some LayerD-XPL Output Modules and basic tools such as a LayerD compatible editor. We will need as much of the community support as possible to complete the future development of this technology and build more LayerD compilers, Output Modules for other platforms, ordinary classes and classfactory libraries as well as other tools such us amiable debuggers. Therefore, if you believe LayerD can benefit the software industry as much as we do, please do not hesitate to contact us and thus contribute with this technology development.

How to contribute with LayerD development?

The first thing you can do to contribute with us is to tell others about this technology, may be your friends or relatives, co-workers and classmates, etc. If you have enough time and are willing to participate in a passionate project you can contribute by doing some specific tasks or becoming a member of the LayerD development team. Please fill in your registration now and we will contact you ASAP.

If you are an entrepreneur, investor or if you do not have time or knowledge but you would like to contribute with money and wish to finance, partially or totally, the development of LayerD technology, please contact us by mail to colaboracion@layerd.net. Your economical support will be greatly appreciated and compensated with advertisements in our web-site or in the tools to be developed, such as compilers, editors, specifications and advertising documents.

How to contact the LayerD development team?

You can contact us in the following e-mail addresses:

Please do not hesitate to email us your opinion about this technology to the first address stated above, we will greatly appreciate it.

About Us

The original idea to implement LayerD technology comes from the person who writes this page, my name is Alexis Ferreyra, I'm a computer Programmer and Systems Analyst from Córdoba city in Argentina. You can contact me to the superior e-mail addresses.

At the moment the project LayerD is being developed with the support of the Laboratory of Investigation of Software in National Technological University - Córdoba Regional Faculty (Universidad Tecnológica Nacional - Facultad Regional Córdoba).

Following people are collaborating in the development of one LayerD's Meta-Language and a Code Generator for Java:

  • Forchino, Lucas
  • Odasso, Demián
  • Romero, Alejandro

We have also had the collaboration (for the time being suspended) of:

  • Mugas, Claudio Andrés

Also, I want to thank for the spiritual support :-) to following people:

  • Ing. Juan Carlos Vázquez
  • Pablo Frias (Systems Analist), please visit their excellent blog about Java http://mundojava.blogspot.com/ (I hope as soon as the compilers begin to work their blog will be "mundolayerd" )
  • Mr. Julio Castillo (~Ing.+Lic.)
  • And to all the people who, even without knowing anything about computers, support me!

LayerD future

Regardless of the tools that can be developed with this project, we believe LayerD technology has enough innovations and novel features to make it a potential leading software development technology with the passing of time. Among the most relevant LayerD features, we can mention the capacity to create real multiplatform software which is critical for embedded platforms, the capacity to define new semantic structures that can radically change the way in which we presently program and design programs and finally the capacity to create tools regardless of the platforms, environment or language by means of interactive classfactorys. These are the three most important features which constitute the strength of LayerD technology and ensure its future growth.

Thank you for your interest in LayerD.
